Nothing in Hebrews 11 indicates that this is a figurative recount merely for instruction. He speaks as if they were men as real as his audience. Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel are not necessarily the only humans around, just the only ones mentioned so far, and if you read the entire chapter, it mentions Cain had a wife.
