Often animals/known materials are used to describe things but for example, how would John react to seeing a modern fighter jet or a tank? Just thinking out loud here but interesting nevertheless. (more) |

I think this is an interesting question and the subject is largely open to interpretation. Im commenting because im not willing to invest in an answer but i've often wondered at some of the more obscure passages/prphesies and visions. Including the eschatological visions of John in Revelation, there ... (more) |

Fair point. It is still an interpretation however now backed up with more scripture. (more) |

A: Why was it so important to Abraham that Isaac not go back to Abraham's homeland? Probably the most important thing in Abraham's life (certainly theologically) is the promise that God made to Abraham regarding his descendants. Gen. 15 18-21. Abraham was a sojourner from in and around Mesopotamia. God called him and his descendants into Canaan. The first major point with this is... (more) |

A: Are comments a platform for debate? I think that theological discussion is nuanced and needs to be extrapolated, extended and debated. Otherwise I see this as less of a discussion and more of a "here's my point, let's see how many people agree or disagree" which there's nothing wrong with...but I believe there's something that grows ou... That line of thinking terminates in "why did God create us at all?" From which there is no definitive answer. I don't think he created us with the desire to sin. I think he created us with the ability to choose. When humans chose sin it fundamentally changed the relationship we had with God. He was n... (more) |

Yeah along those lines. I can't help but feel a purely up/down voting mechanism for a community where a lot of answers are contextual and opinionated will not do the subject justice. It seems likely to me that answers will start to be shaped by the views and opinions of the most active users and the ... (more) |

This makes me wonder about the voting mechanism in general. UP/DOWN can be construed as bad question/good question. But what about the general discussion points of agree/disagree im wondering if an optional voting mechanism would work in this scenario? (more) |

I see what you are saying but isn't that the general gist of all vote-based forums? The answer with the most amount of votes typically represents the most common viewpoint of the participants. We see this even in Codidact meta where reasonably asked questions get down-voted because people don't agree... (more) |

A: How should we handle questions that (probably) don't depend on denomination/tradition? Despite being staff, I'm not a moderator on this site so please take this as purely a participant opinion, not gospel (pun intended) I would like to see questions that are asked more open ended to be less strict with answers. IMO I think it would create strong community to be able to have answers ... (more) |

A: How can we have free will without sin in heaven, but can't do so on earth? (written on my cell, will add references later) In the new Heaven, there will be no Sin, as it will be eradicated. It is my opinion that free will can absolutely exist without sin. Jesus is the perfect example of that. He had full autonomy from the Father. This would explain the temptation in the ... (more) |
