A: Proposing to turn off reactions on Christianity! This makes sense to me, and seeing no objections, I've gone ahead and turned them off. These -- or different ones! -- can be enabled if the community wants. (more) |

Question | — |
Should posting on Meta affect reputation? When we launched this community, we did not yet have the ability to set different reputation grants for different categories. We've had this for a while but we failed to follow up before now, sorry. Do you want us to change posts on Meta to not award rep for upvotes or subtract it for downvotes? ... (more) |

Thanks for your suggestions! We can add community-specific widgets like Judaism has. (Another customization is the scoreboard on posts on Code Golf.) Would you be willing to start a new meta question about what would be useful to have? (more) |

You're asking on the Christianity community and ask if it has something to do with Jesus, but the only example you give is from the exodus from Egypt, which long predates Jesus. I'm having trouble understanding what you're asking. (more) |

Question | — |
How can we grow this community? Codidact's communities have a lot of great content that is helping people on the Internet. Our communities are small, though, and sustainable communities depend on having lots of active, engaged participants. The folks already here are doing good work; our challenge is to find more people like you ... (more) |

Thank you! That was enlightening. You're right; that's a very different approach than what I was imagining. (On the founders of Christianity, I was thinking of Peter et al; I guess I should have said the human founders of the church, but I didn't know that God was considered to be the founder.) (more) |

Question | — |
Theologically speaking, how does the Roman Catholic church decide which parts of the pre-Christian bible are binding? My understanding, which must be overly simplified, is that the founders of Christianity held that even though the pre-gospel books of the bible (the Hebrew bible or what Christians call the old testament) are holy, the commandments therein are not binding after the coming of Jesus. This is why Chris... (more) |

I think when we get threaded comments that will change things (for the better), too. Somewhere Else has no threading and probably needs to disincentivize comments because large piles are hard to navigate. If you can thread them and collapse whole threads, though, then that usability problem largely... (more) |

Question | — |
What does Roman Catholic law say about a marriage that was later discovered to be invalid? This question about a polygamist who converts made me wonder about a different question. According to the Roman Catholic church, what happens if a marriage entered into in good faith later turns out to be invalid? For example, suppose only later did they discover that they are forbidden family memb... (more) |

If you're not specifically looking for Christian interpretations, you could also ask this question on [Judaism](https://judaism.codidact.com/). (I don't mean instead but in addition, if you want both sets of perspectives.) (more) |

For overviews, does this community perhaps want to build a set of shared resources, as opposed to doing that as Q&A? You'd need a way for people to request that a topic be covered, or maybe that's done by just starting the resource and leaving blanks? (Look, for example, at the [Resources category ... (more) |

@CharlieBrumbaugh†if you see a question here that you can answer with something you've written somewhere else, go ahead and use that material if you like -- it's yours and requires no additional attribution. This is true regardless of where you wrote it -- Somewhere Else, your blog, Quora, your mast... (more) |

@PeterTaylor yeah, at the time I thought it has a theological basis, which I thought to be general, like immediate burial does in Judaism. It seems like the answer is "there isn't a religion-based reason for timing, only practicalities" -- which also seems to be a non-denominational answer. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Should I copy my content from the Other Site to this one? Some of our early communities did bulk imports (with varying rules), and I and many others have now concluded that this was a mistake. That's my fault, and I'm sorry about it. Targeted imports can still work maybe, but if something was all yours to begin with, or you can make it all yours here (for... (more) |

I like the overview approach. It can then be an entry into more specific questions. At the beginning, the problem is that the asker doesn't know where (or if) the interesting variations are. (more) |

Question | — |
How should we handle questions that (probably) don't depend on denomination/tradition? I'm not Christian, so not part of your core group or target audience. I occasionally have questions about Christianity, but as an outsider I don't necessarily know which questions depend heavily on denomination/tradition and which are more general. I mean, I think there are things that practically ... (more) |

We'll make it whatever (built-in) color the community wants. The icon is temporary, so if y'all have color preferences that should influence the icon too, please speak up! I picked purple because I have the impression it has religious significance (like, I think it shows up in clerical garb), but y... (more) |

Question | — |
Welcome to Christianity! Welcome to the Codidact site for Christianity! We're glad you're here and we're excited to see what you will build. This community is starting "from scratch", without importing Q&A from other sites, so your community can set its own direction.[^1] We've set up two categories, Q&A ("main") and Me... (more) |
